What the studies actually say, in plain English.
We believe you should see the evidence before you buy. Here's a plain-English summary of the published research on each ingredient in River of Life, including what's promising and where more research is still needed.

How to read this page
The studies below tested individual ingredients, often as specific extracts and doses. They did not test River of Life itself. We share them so you can see why each ingredient is in the formula, and we link every source so you can read it yourself.
Turmeric (curcumin)
Joint comfort
A 2016 systematic review of randomized trials found turmeric extract reduced arthritis symptoms compared with placebo. In a 367-person trial, turmeric extract worked about as well as ibuprofen for knee osteoarthritis, with fewer stomach side effects.
Mood and memory
A 2017 meta-analysis found curcumin improved depression symptoms compared with placebo, and an 18-month UCLA trial found a bioavailable curcumin improved memory and attention in adults aged 50 to 90.
Exercise soreness
Curcumin reduced pain from delayed onset muscle soreness in a randomized trial.
Black pepper (piperine)
Piperine raised curcumin absorption by 2,000% in human volunteers.
Ashwagandha root
Ashwagandha lowered stress and cortisol in a 60-day trial and a 2019 trial. A review of five trials found it improved sleep, and an 8-week study found better strength and recovery in men doing resistance training.
Ginger
Across 5 trials and 593 people, ginger modestly reduced osteoarthritis pain. The NIH notes it may help with nausea.
Bromelain
Reviews describe bromelain's anti-swelling properties and early research in osteoarthritis.
What the research doesn't show yet
Many trials are small and short, often 8 to 12 weeks.
Results vary with the extract and dose used.
The NIH notes that evidence for many turmeric uses is still developing.
Supplements are not a substitute for medical care.

The formula built on this research
River of Life capsules combine all five ingredients in two vegan capsules a day.
What if it doesn't work for me?
Unopened products can be returned within 30 days on your first order, so you can try it with confidence.
How to judge supplement research
Look at the study design
Randomized, placebo-controlled trials are the strongest single studies. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses, which pool several trials, are stronger still.
Check the size and length
Small studies over a few weeks are useful early signals, but they can overstate effects. Larger, longer studies are more reliable.
Notice the dose and form
Results from a specific extract at a specific dose don't automatically apply to every product.
Look for independent replication
Findings that show up across several research groups are more trustworthy than a single result.
Why we combine these ingredients
Each ingredient has its own evidence. Turmeric and ginger are studied for joint comfort, bromelain for swelling, black pepper for absorption and ashwagandha for stress and sleep. Combining them gives people one daily habit instead of five separate bottles. A combined formula hasn't been tested as a whole in the trials above, and we think it's important to be clear about that.
Safety notes from the research
Turmeric and ginger are generally well tolerated; mild stomach upset is the most common complaint.
Turmeric, ginger and bromelain can affect bleeding, so check with your doctor if you take blood thinners.
Ashwagandha has rare reports of liver injury and should be avoided during pregnancy.
More questions
Has River of Life itself been clinically tested?
No. The studies above tested the individual ingredients. We share them so you can see the evidence behind each one.
Where can I read the studies?
Every study on this page is linked. Most are free to read on PubMed or PubMed Central.
What we don't claim
Supplements are not medicines. River of Life is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, and it isn't a replacement for medical care or prescribed treatment. We avoid words like "cure" and "miracle" because the research doesn't support them. What the evidence does support is that these ingredients, at studied doses, may help with joint comfort, stress, sleep and recovery for many people. We think that's worth sharing clearly, along with the limits.
Quick answers
How do I know a study is trustworthy?
Check where it was published, how many people took part, whether it had a placebo group and whether other teams found similar results.
Why are some study links to PubMed?
PubMed is the US National Library of Medicine's database. It lets you read the study summary and often the full paper for free.

Where potency meets purity

Anti-inflammatory power
Here's the secret: turmeric alone is good, but turmeric WITH black pepper? Game changer. Black pepper contains piperine, which supercharges turmeric absorption by 2,000%. Yeah, you read that right. Two thousand percent. Without black pepper, most of the turmeric just passes through your body. With it? Your body actually uses it. That's why every bottle combines these two powerhouses — because taking turmeric without black pepper is like buying a Ferrari with no gas.
Ashwagandha Roots
Ashwagandha roots are widely recognized as a powerful adaptogen, offering significant benefits for stress management by helping the body achieve homeostasis and promoting a sense of calm. This makes Ashwagandha an essential supplement for those seeking to enhance mental clarity, reduce cortisol levels, and support overall resilience against the demands of daily life.

Digestive aid
Used for millennia, Organic Ginger is an effective digestive aid that soothes the stomach and supports the gastrointestinal tract by alleviating nausea and indigestion.
Natural inflammation relief
Bromelain is a natural enzyme found in pineapple. It helps your body break down proteins and has been studied for easing swelling and supporting joint comfort, which makes it a natural partner to turmeric.
